20th-Place Finish for Kahne at Phoenix
This weekend at Phoenix International Raceway Kasey Kahne qualified the No. 5 Great Clips Chevrolet SS in the 10th position. During the 312-lap race he reached as high as the seventh position before taking the checkered flag in the 20th position for Hendrick Motorsports.
Kahne took the green flag for Stage 1 in the 10th position, and completed the first stage in the 14th spot in the No. 5 Great Clips Chevrolet. After making adjustments to the No. 5 machine during Stage 2, Kahne was able to work his way back up to the 11th position. Just over 30 laps into the final stage of the race, Kahne took over the 10th position in the Great Clips Chevy. When the fifth caution of the day came out on Lap 193, Kahne visited pit road and a quick pit stop by the No. 5 pit crew gained Kahne two positions.

He restarted eighth on Lap 200 and quickly moved up to the seventh position. During the second-to-last caution of the race on Lap 258, Kahne visited pit road after slipping back a couple of positions. Unfortunately, he had to return for a second pit stop during the caution period to tighten loose lug nuts. Even though Kahne had to restart in the 28th position, he quickly worked his way forward and was in the 17th position when the final caution of the race came out. With varying pit strategies, Kahne visted pit road for the final time to receive four tires for the overtime restart. He ultimately finished 20th in the Great Clips Chevrolet.
